Free tech tools for charities looking to supercharge their content and social media

If you are like most other small to medium sized charities, you don’t have a dedicated and experienced social media manager. Maybe it is bolted on to another role, or maybe it is a team effort. However you do it, here are some tools to help do it better.

Ever posted or sent an email to tonnes of people and then someone flags up a typo? Embarrassing right! Well Grammarly has got you covered.

Free and easy to download, get suggestions from Grammarly while you write in desktop applications and sites across the web—as you move between apps, social media, documents, messages, and emails.

Up your social media and marketing game with Canva. Even better, Canva offer their Pro version to charities FOR FREE! A super easy-to-navigate platform, Canva allows you to choose from a range of templates… or build your own from scratch! Unlock Canva Pro for free by applying online.

Pop your brand into various mock ups and backgrounds! Content with your branding but without the need for the photoshoot.

  1. Experte

This one was a godsend for us! Have you got a picture of a group or person where you’d like to easily just cut out the background to use that picture with a different background. Well look no further than Experte.

  1. Buffer 

Do you really have time to post every other day? Probably not, but you need to! Buffer is a free social media post scheduling tool. Connect three of your social accounts, and schedule up to ten posts in advance on each platform! This means just one mornings work and you can be all set for a few weeks.

Perhaps you are not a social media whizz… How on earth would you know what to hashtag? Well this easy to use solution allows you to search the most relevant hashtags in your space.

  1. Mailchimp 

Use Mailchimp to shout about your cause, keep stakeholders updated and maintain contact with your volunteers. Mailchimp is great for sending newsletters and with their drag and drop elements and integrations features, creating sleek mailouts has never been easier. It’s free to send up to 10,000 emails per month and store 2000 contacts. If you need to send more than that, then they offer charitable discounts.
