Volunteering is changing. Fewer people can commit long-term, but many still want to help in ways that fit their lives. At Little Village, we set out to see if one-off volunteering could work - both practically for our services and meaningfully for volunteers. What started as a pilot (a wild idea?!) last year has quickly become a key part of how we involve people, with one-off volunteers set to outnumber our regular team this year.
This session will explore the journey from idea to implementation, covering onboarding, logistics, staff buy-in, promotion, and measuring impact. Calleigh and Daniela will share their experiences - the challenges, the opportunities, and the lessons learned in building simple, rewarding one-off roles that work.
Whether you’re considering one-off volunteering for the first time or looking to refine your approach, this session will offer real-world insights from a team who gave it a go - and are very glad they did!
Calleigh has over 15 years of experience in volunteer management, including advocacy programmes, nationwide initiatives in the UK Civil Service, and community-led NHS projects. Since joining Little Village in 2022, she has focused on making volunteering more accessible and sustainable. She is also a Trustee for Head2Head Sensory Theatre, supporting SEN families in accessing the performing arts.
