Most places of worship run on a long list of rotas: welcome teams, readers, refreshments, music, cleaning and car parking, often kept in a spreadsheet or on a sheet by the door. With Volunteero you create a mission for each team and add shifts for every service, one at a time or as a repeating series. Volunteers then pick the dates that suit them in the app.
Calendar and agenda views colour coded by how full each shift is
Stop volunteers booking clashing shifts or cancelling at the last minute
Automatic reminders before each shift, and check-in to record hours
Festivals, fairs and one-off events work the same way, so the whole year’s volunteering sits in one place. See more in volunteer scheduling.

Anyone helping with a children’s group, youth club or holiday club needs the right checks and training before they start. Volunteero builds that into onboarding. Each role gets its own journey, with stages such as an application form, references, ID checks with Yoti, safeguarding training with a quiz, and DBS checks in England and Wales through our integration with Verifile.
Completed checks and training are recorded as qualifications. Missions can be shown only to the right group and shifts restricted by qualification, so only volunteers cleared for children’s work can book those sessions. Coordinators can see exactly where each applicant is in the process. Read more about compliance and DBS checks.

Many congregations organise volunteers through WhatsApp groups and email chains, which mix personal phone numbers with rota changes and make it hard to know who has seen what. Volunteero’s secure in-app chat replaces them with direct messages, a group chat for each team and newsfeeds for announcements, all in a GDPR-compliant platform your organisation controls.
Messages can go out as chat and email in one go, and over 90% of messages are read, compared with a typical email open rate of around 30%. Share a shift straight into a chat so volunteers can book it in one click, run a quick poll to plan an event, and pin the details everyone needs.

Faith groups often reach well beyond their own members, through food banks, community meals, pastoral visits and befriending for people who are isolated. Volunteero is one of very few volunteer management systems with a client database, so the people you support sit alongside the volunteers who help them.
Set up a visit or call for one person, then assign a named volunteer or offer it to trained volunteers for a coordinator to approve
Volunteers see only a first name and initial by default, and can call from the app when you allow it
Reminders prompt regular calls, and chosen report answers alert staff to a concern
Bay Volunteers, a community service coordinated by Hope Church Lancaster with local partners, supports people who are vulnerable, housebound or isolated. Its volunteers log their time and flag concerns through reports in the app, and the team estimates it saves over 3 hours a week checking what has been done. See more in client management.
Why it works
Automated badges mark milestones such as years of service, hours given or shifts completed, so long-serving volunteers are never missed. Surveys sent through the app, a link or a QR code show how volunteers feel, and exit surveys tell you why people step back.
Check-ins and reports record hours and activity as volunteers go about their roles. Custom insights dashboards, filtered by date range and group, give trustees, grant funders and your annual report a clear picture of what volunteers contribute, and any data can be exported to Excel.
Volunteers use the Volunteero app on iOS or Android, or a web browser, to book shifts, read messages and complete training. The app supports multiple languages, and coordinators can take actions on behalf of volunteers who are less confident with technology.
All data is hosted in the EEA and encrypted in transit and at rest. Role-based permissions and group restrictions mean each coordinator sees only the volunteers and information within their remit, including background check results and the details of the people you support.
Look for rota scheduling with reminders, onboarding with safeguarding checks and training, secure messaging and simple reporting. Volunteero brings all of these into one platform, with an app volunteers can use on their phone.
Yes. Each team, such as welcome, refreshments or music, can be a mission with shifts for every service, including repeating ones. Volunteers book the dates that suit them in the Volunteero app and get a reminder before each shift.
Volunteero runs automated DBS checks in England and Wales through its integration with Verifile, as a stage in each role’s onboarding journey. The result comes back into Volunteero for review, and a valid check can be required before anyone joins children’s or youth work.
Yes. Volunteero isn’t tied to one faith or denomination. You name your own teams, roles, groups and onboarding stages, so it fits any place of worship or faith-based charity.
